A 4x4 Safari with a twist.

Gamsberg-Safaris bring you the best salt water fishing experience off the African coast.  Join us on one of our fishing tours to the South Coast of Angola.

The official meeting point for the tour is in Ruacana. Here we will cross the border into Angola
Our first night we will make a field camp en-route to Flamingo Camp.

Flamingo Camp/Lodge is situated on the beach 40km south of the town of Namibe. Fishing is considered to be their greatest asset, but the beautiful, wild and sparsely populated beaches and countryside provide the perfect setting for any holiday. Among other activities, excursions and services, they also offer quad-bike trails and logistical and guiding services to 4 x 4 overlanders. This will be our overnight spot for the next three nights. Expect to catch Cob, Garrick, Spotted Grunter, Elf (Shad) and a variety of sharks

We will leave for Foz du Cunene on day five, where we will stay for three nights. The Cunene is a large perennial river that forms the boundary between southwestern Angola and Namibia, where the river bisects the desert before entering the sea. Here one will experience the contrasts of sand dunes, rocky plains, thick riverine vegetation, salt marshes and the sea. It is bordered by lush vegetation, which forms striking contrasts with the surrounding desert. The settlement of Foz do Cunene is situated on the banks of the river 6 km from the sea and is within the vast Iona National Park. Offers excellent fishing opportunities

Day eight will see us head back to Flamingo camp for one night.

On day nine, we will depart for Foarado (meaning hole) 120km north of Namibe. This is a private beach camp owned by a local Portuguese resident. It is private, secluded offering the most beautiful scenery and rock formations as well as an ideal spot for fishing. This private beach which is well known for its excellent fishing and diving opportunities, will be our overnight spot for the next three days.

On day twelve we will be traveling back towards the border via Lubango where we will cross the Leba Pass with its waterfall and cantilevered hairpin bends where one ascends from the coastal plain to an altitude of over 6 000 feet in just a few kilometers. Our overnight spot will be close to the border at a field camp.

Travelling towards Namibia, we will cross the border at Ruacana or Oshacango where each party will go their separate way.
